All are invited to a shower in celebration of Isaac Benjamin Brown in the Fireside Room on Sunday, October 29, beginning at 12pm. We’d ask that you let us know if you plan to come by signing up on the bulletin board in the narthex or contacting church. If you would like to bring a gift, the Browns have asked for books and clothes for 6-12 months. They are also registered at Target.

Saturday, November 4, 9:00 – 5:00 at Mt. Olive

Items for sale include: quilts, quilted items, hand painted items, handmade table runners, placemats, napkins, hot pads, aprons, baby bath towels, ceramics, yard decorations, wreaths, jewelry, purses and coin purses, unpainted wood items, embroidered book marks, handmade greeting cards, and many, many, many handmade Christmas decorations for tree and table.  There will be coffee and baked goods available all day (while they last) and sloppy joe’s etc. for lunch.

There will also be a section of barely used Christmas decorations and tree ornaments.

We can use volunteers all day. We have the kitchen covered, but we will need cashiers, wrappers and baggers, and floor people. We also could use help setting up on Thursday and Friday, and taking down and packing up Saturday night.  There are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board directly behind the a/v person in the narthex. If you have any extra time to spare, please consider signing up to help out.

All proceeds will go to Branch Lutheran Schools of Haiti, Inc.  We received $250 start-up money from Thrivent, so our costs for signage, advertising, and food were all covered.

Thank you very much!

Linda Petersen and Pam Folkens

To ensure that we are both serving our current members well and also doing all we can to reach those in our community, we are evaluating our current Sunday morning schedule. Whether you are a member or guest with us, and if you are willing, we'd ask that you please fill out this survey by Wednesday, November 1. We thank you for your feedback! You can look for conclusions and a Worship Committee proposal at our November Congregational Assembly (date TBD).

Our top priorities as we explore these possibilities:
*Better knowing and growing in Jesus
*Emphasis on all aspects of our Sunday morning, with opportunity for all to participate in as many areas as possible, without conflict of each other
*Maintaining a schedule that accommodates both our members and guests

The worship committee is looking to experiment with the design of the bulletin to ensure that it is easy for everyone to follow along with worship services. If you have any feedback, please send to or speak to Anna Biedenbender, Pastor Al, or Ben Dose.

On Saturday, October 28 at 3pm, choir members from St. John, St. Paul; Divinity; Good Shepherd; and Mt. A free-will offering will be taken for the St. John organ fund.

Any men that are interested can grab a handout from the bulletin board. The conference will be held on Saturday, October 28 in Rochester, MN,  with Mark Jeske as the keynote speaker and Koiné leading music. Registration and info at

Mark your calendars! Mt. Olive Thanksgiving Dinner will be Saturday, November 18, at 5:30. We will put up a sign-up sheet for attendees and volunteers the first part of November.  You won’t want to miss this!

Electronic Giving

Mt. Olive Lutheran offers online giving for both recurring (weekly, monthly) and one-time contributions. There are two easy ways to sign up for electronic giving.

OPTION 1: Click the "GIVE NOW" button.

You will be redirected to a website sponsored by Vanco, a financial services company who provides these same services to thousands of other churches.

OPTION 2: Use the "Give Now" box below.

You may give electronically from a designated checking or savings account, or by using a credit or debit card. While any means of giving is much appreciated, we would like to encourage you to choose the checking or savings account option, as the convenience fees for debit / credit cards are significantly higher

For users who have an iPhone, Vanco also provides a free app called Give+. This app can be used to set up recurring or one-time offerings and can be used with both checking/savings accounts and credit cards. The app links up with your profile created via Mt. Olive's electronic giving page as long as you are using the same email address.

Email our Treasurer, Kathleen Menke, at with any questions.
